Our Ministry Operated Model Programs

tools for ministries

Christian Literacy Associates’ model program is known as Allegheny County Literacy Council, Inc.  In fact, in 1975, Dr. William and Linda Kofmehl, Jr. originally founded this basic literacy outreach as Allegheny County Literacy Council, Inc. and soon realized the larger plans the Lord had for the ministry.  Here, at the model program’s offices, we develop and offer the publications and programs available through our training and consulting activities around the world.  Allegheny County is the area surrounding the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a proud region of historic and cultural significance.

From our donated office space in St. John’s Lutheran Church of Highland’s Education Wing, we develop Bible-content basic reading primers and provide free training for volunteers, parents, and other ministries in Western Pennsylvania.  We also offer Christian Literacy Summer Reading Camps for local elementary school age children in need of reading assistance over the summer, as well as offer afterschool reading help for children in the inner-city, suburban, and rural areas.  We continue to provide free training for churches and community groups to offer to their own community such literacy outreaches as Summer Reading Camps and afterschool tutoring, utilizing our format and design.  Without our Model Program, we could not have a national or international impact.
